February Specials

Tomorrow is the first day of February!  I decided that perhaps some specials would drum up a little more interest...  So in honor of Valentine's Day, February specials are 50% couples sessions and boudoir sessions!  Make sure you book in February before the specials end!

Jessica - Downtown Augusta shoot

I've had this shoot in my head for what seems like ages - how cool would it be to find someone with awesome tattoos and an awesome setting and take photos?  The way I envisioned it, I needed a brick wall...not just any brick wall, but an old brick wall, and someone with tattoos...  My goal was something edgy.  Pretty, but edgy.

I feel like I accomplished this with my wonderful friend, Jessica.  Here she is:

I had fun with this shoot because Jessica is one of the most laid back people I know.  I used to work with her, and now she's just a short walk away...an eternal optimist with a mean streak of DIY, she was SO EASY to shoot.  Plus, she may or may not have had someone on her mind - oh la la!  :)

In the area we were in, we had some run-down buildings, a nice fountain, a brick staircase, plenty of greenery, and some old railroad tracks.  The perfect place for a variety of photos!  Check out the results from this shoot!

This one is one of my favorites:

You would never believe this picture came from January...in GEORGIA...only a few days ago, we had ice!!

Right about this time, a bicycle cop rode by.  I think he waved and shouted something, but I stopped shooting.  He yelled back that he was trying to make the shot.  I promptly replied back to him, "FAIL!"  He never made it into any shots.

This one is another one of my favorites -

Flickr Slideshow

I've been taking photographs for a long time. It's been over 10 years since I accidentally stumbled upon photography as a hobby. As a high school junior, I was placed in a photography class. Apparently, my requested electives were already filled up, so they threw me into a photography class that still had spaces. I was furious, to say the least. Why would a 4.0 Honors and AP student get put in some artsy photography class? I swore up and down that whenever I was able to go get my schedule changed that I would be the first one in the office, demanding a more academic class.

I ended up sitting through the first week and realizing that perhaps it wouldn't be too bad learning how to use a "real" camera...after all, the only camera I was familiar with was one of those automatic point-and-shoot film cameras. I got some awesome hands-on experience in this class, and in no time at all, I was developing my own film, making my own prints, and my hands constantly smelled like the chemicals I used in the darkroom. My teacher, Mr. O'Neal, and I butted heads from time to time. (I didn't think it was right to receive a grade on art. Granted, we were instructed on principles of photography and had specific things to shoot for in each assignment, but I figured, as long as I met both criteria, why should I have points taken off? I was so obviously unhappy with my 96% and thought that I should have a 100%, because photography was art, and art was subjective.)

So, long story short, an "accident" in my scheduling opened my eyes to the world of photography. That accident led me to take two classes during my senior year and go on to receive college credit. It's been a long time since I dabbled with REAL film cameras, because I fell in love with the instant gratification of the digital world.

I never stopped taking pictures over the years. I finally started up my own company on the side. Although my sessions with Beck Wagnon Photography are few since it's so green, I do have favorites from over the years. I put them together in this nifty slideshow on Flickr. Check 'em out!

It's Official!

Beck Wagnon Photography is officially a business in the state of Georgia - I got my business license today!  I just wanted to take a few seconds to thank my family and friends for the awesome support...and also, all of the complete strangers who have taken the time to check out my work.  I'm definitely looking forward to making this bigger and better, with your help!

A New Look

Another great big thanks to Mandy at Style Me Sweet.  She has helped me all day long to get my blog looking pretty!  She did a fantastic job with my header...knowing that I wanted a certain size, plus the awesome logo she created for me.  She incorporated some of my favorite photos, and chose colors for me - I'm extremely pleased with it!

Also new: I created my own Flickr and will eventually be adding some older photos to that particular website.  I'm working on a concept for the whole thing.  Not sure which route I want to take with the Flickr yet, but I'm getting there.

And finally...  I've booked my first wedding!!  11 November 2011 is the date, Savannah is the place, and I am so very happy to be a part of Tabitha Miller's big day!!

Brody's Three Month Old Photos

Huge things happening at Beck Wagnon Photography!  First of all, I have a brand new logo:

Credit for this awesome graphic goes to Mandy at Style Me Sweet Design.  My friend Nicole recommended this wonderful website to me for some graphic work, and she wasn't kidding when she said that Mandy was speedy and easy to work with.  I will absolutely be going back to Mandy for any more graphics that I need.

The second big happening is that I'm sponsoring the Augusta Chapter MICA 10k trail run/5k walk!  I decided to be a silver-level sponsor.  I'm pretty jazzed at the potential business this could drum up for me.  My business cards/coupons go in each goody bag, I get shout-outs on the MICA Facebook page, AND...this the coolest of all...my logo goes on a t-shirt!  HOW COOL.

It's nice, and very rewarding, to see little ol' Beck Wagnon Photography growing and receiving such interest...and of course, continued support!

Without further ado, I have photos from this afternoon's session!  I got together with Alyssa again for some three month old pictures with her son Brody.  Brody was in a much better mood this time around, and I got some adorable shots of him.

Isn't his little white shirt and jeans just adorable?!

Ahhh, c'mon, Ma!
Quite literally THE second after this shot was taken, and I was snapping the next, Brody spit up.  Definitely caught that shot.  Definitely opted NOT to show that to everyone.  You can thank me later.
My babygirl was present for this shoot...she wanted so badly to help, and play with Brody's Bumbo seat... and she kept jumping in and out of frame.  She's the one Brody's got his eyes on in this shot...if not for her, I doubt this whole ET style stuffed animal shot would have worked!

The Allen Family

I was so extremely blessed to have the opportunity to photograph a beautiful growing family today!  Meet the Allen family!

Twighla, Eric, and Aurora were an absolute pleasure to shoot today - one of the most enjoyable sessions I've had to date.  I am so happy that I had the chance to capture moments before their baby girl arrives soon!  Even though the weather was a bit chilly, and the walk to the canal trail was a little mushy and rocky, I had a fabulous time and I really hope they did, too!
